Tempo Park Improvements

Citrus Heights, California

Foothill Associates provided conceptual planning, community workshops, and PS&Es to address removal of turf, aquatic facilities, associated parking lot, and landscaping at Tempo Park. Site improvements included low water use vegetation, water efficient irrigation, permeable pavers, stormwater detention swales, lighted walking paths, interpretive signage (future installation), and a fitness workstation (future). The irrigation plan was developed using irrigation best practices in accordance with the requirements of AB 1881. A public workshop was held using a charette process to solicit input from local residents and stakeholders, and taking into consideration issues such as chronic flood management concerns; the privacy of residents living next to the park; public safety; parking on residential streets; energy efficiency; and an emergency access easement through the site. We designed interpretive signs on the topics of water quality, native plants, and riparian corridor.

Many public concerns were voiced through the public workshop process.

The public outreach process helped develop the conceptual plan.

Sustainable design elements included low water use vegetation, permeable paving, and stormwater detention swales.

The space features lighted walking paths and future installation of interpretive signs.
