Springlake Drainage Park Restoration Plan

Woodland, California

Foothill Associates designed mitigation measures to enhance existing wetlands in a city preserve after the construction of storm drain channels and detention ponds in Woodland, California. This project presented unique challenges due to its location on alkali soils and the presence of multiple species of rare plants. The restoration design called for low berms around the property to direct water into the wetland. Additionally, Foothill Associates coordinated the design of an overland flow route across the drainage channel with project engineers to allow the dispersal of rare plant seeds. Foothill worked with regulatory agencies to develop a method to transplant approximately eight acres of rare plant seedbank to a location inside the preserve. After creating the restoration plan and specifications Foothill Associates monitored construction.
