Rio Oso Solar

Placer County, California

Foothill Associates provided biological resource surveys, environmental consulting, and a wetland delineation for two discontinuous properties totaling 1,574 acres in Placer County for development of a photovoltaic electric power generating solar farm. The site consisted primarily of agricultural fields and riparian habitats associated with Curry Creek and Auburn Ravine. Special-status species potentially occurring within the sites included western pond turtle, valley elderberry longhorn beetle habitat, greater sandhill crane, and black crowned night heron. Biologists wrote an analysis of the projects compatibility with the Placer County Conservation Plan (PCCP).
