Recreation Park Loop Trail

Auburn, California

Foothill Associates designed a multi-use trail that meanders through a mature woodland of oaks and other trees at Recreation Park in Auburn, California. The trail was designed in coordination with Foothill’s arborists and regulatory specialists to minimize impacts to existing trees, ensure that designs comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and local tree ordinance regulations, have the fewest impacts to the environment, and streamline the environmental review and approval process. In support of the trail design, Foothill Associates’ certified arborists conducted a tree survey of all trees on the project site meeting City of Auburn standards. The survey included numbering and tagging each qualifying tree, assessing health, species, size, and/or if the tree poses a health, safety, or welfare threat to the public. The tree location data was added to other project mapping data to facilitate design and construction document development.
