The local American Society of Landscape Architects’ recently selected Meredith Branstad, Lisa Lindman, and Bart van der Zeeuw as winners of Fremont Park Design Competition. Fremont Park is located in midtown Sacramento on the block bounded by P, Q, 15, and 16th streets. The competition required that the existing fountain, trees, and diagonal paths through the park be kept, but no other design or budgetary restrictions were made. The Foothill Team’s design, selected from 13 other submissions, was focused around the themes of art and community. We attempted to integrate art throughout the park in retaining walls, fences, and areas for art display. Congratulations to Bart, Lisa, and Meredith!
