Monument Garden

Placerville, California

Foothill Associates developed an improvement plan for the City of Placerville’s Monument Garden at Judge Maul Park located adjacent to the District Attorney’s Office at Main Street and Bedford Avenue. The project included designing a memorial to display several dozen commemorative plaques for Vietnam War veterans, and recreating a memorial garden space to replace an area that was lost during a State Route 50 Caltrans project.  The design of the garden to accommodate several historic memorial elements and the new memorial structure were accomplished through a series of public meetings during which the community provided ideas and preferences in conjunction with the Community Pride group. Considerable thought and discussion went into balancing the historic and memorial functions of the garden with its use as a public space. A cost estimate, material selections, construction documents, and City Council presentations were also provided.

Foothill Associates prepared a conceptual plan, cost estimates, construction documents, and specifications.
