Hinman Square

Nice, California

As part of the Nice Parks Master Plan, Foothill Associates developed a conceptual plan for Hinman Square in Lake County, California. The design features a central fountain, bandstand, clock tower and kiosk, restroom building, special plaza paving, parking areas, formal planters, specialty lighting, wall features, and enhanced crosswalks. The architecture of the buildings, plant material, site furnishings, and lighting followed the French Mediterranean design style outlined in the Nice Parks Master Plan. The town square was planned to serve as a civic place, gathering space, and as a social core for the community. Foothill conducted an arborist survey as part of the work to evaluate existing tree health and structure.

Upon approval of the conceptual plan, Foothill Associates prepared the construction documents for Hinman Square. To help contain construction costs, Foothill Associates coordinated closely with a prefabricated structure manufacturer to develop a custom design for the bandstand and the clock tower. Foothill Associates also worked closely with an electrical engineer to create a specialty lighting plan for this unique project. The construction documents included specifications and a final cost estimate.
