Position Title: GIS Specialist

Qualifications: Degree in geography, landscape architecture, natural resources, or closely related field required. Experience with ArcGIS software in creating and maintaining GIS data, developing maps, and performing analysis is necessary for this position. Understanding of AutoCAD sufficient for inspecting files, identifying and isolating key project information, and importing into GIS with appropriate projection. Skilled at georeferencing data and images and experience importing, correcting, and managing GPS data. Field work experience and/or GIS programming experience are desired but not necessary. Excellent communication skills and proficiency with core Microsoft Office software programs required. Successful candidate will be one who enjoys independent problem solving and has a high attention to detail and pride in their work.

 

Responsibilities: Compile, convert, and analyze geographic data to produce map products using ESRI’s ArcGIS in support of biological, regulatory, and planning reports and proposals and marketing materials. Process and integrate GPS data, imagery, and AutoCAD-based information. Create, maintain, and update GIS geodatabases. Produce additional non-cartographic graphics as needed. Research background data options and data availability and obtain publicly-available data relevant to project. Read and review engineering drawings and communicate with design and engineering firms to obtain and clarify data. Routine maintenance of GPS units, including managing background and data files, cleaning, and coordination with service company. Develop and maintain custom data dictionaries in TerraSync.

 

Salary Range:  $50,000 – $65,000

Position Title:  Environmental Planner/Regulatory Specialist

Foothill Associates is seeking an Environmental Planner/ Regulatory Specialist to join our Rocklin office. The successful candidate will be familiar with environmental regulations including NEPA, CEQA, FESA and CESA, as well as federal and state protected species, and discretionary permitting through ACOE, CDFW, and USFWS. Position requires the ability to rapidly and accurately comprehend project components and potential issues relevant to regulatory compliance and potential effects to natural resources and other environmental factors, to interact professionally with clients and technical staff, and to identify solutions to meet client needs. Successful candidates must be able to prepare technical sections of environmental documents, work in multi-resource groups, collaborate among internal team members and agency staff, and operate in an environment of tight schedules and limited budgets. Qualifications: Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in wildlife biology, fisheries, ecology, natural resource planning, or related field. Experience with the northern California ecosystems is a must.

 

Responsibilities: Preparation of technical sections and reports and conducting resource impact analysis in support of CEQA/NEPA analyses, State and Federal regulatory permit applications, development of conceptual and final mitigation plans, mitigation feasibility studies, and business development support.

 

Salary Range:  $50,000 – $56,000

Position Title:  Wildlife Biologist/Biologist

Foothill Associates is accepting applications for a junior-level biologist with 1-5 years of experience. See instructions below to apply.
 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, biology or related field and 1-5 years of relevant environmental consulting experience required. Previous experience required in conducting general biological assessments in the Central Valley and foothills as well as experience conducting focused special-status plant and wildlife surveys and proficiency with GPS technology. Familiarity with regulatory permit processes and general permit requirements is required. Experience preparing wetland delineations is a plus. Candidate must have excellent communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office software programs, and must work well in a team environment. ISA-certified arborist, and special-status species permits preferred. Candidate must be comfortable working in all types of weather and be able to navigate all types of terrain. Majority of field work is local, so overnight travel is rare.

 

Responsibilities: Conduct field assessments of biological resources and wetlands, assess impacts to these resources, prepare technical reports and environmental review documents, conduct focused surveys for threatened, endangered, sensitive, and/or rare flora and fauna, implement biological construction monitoring requirements, work with project team to secure permits and develop and implement mitigation and monitoring plans, manage projects, and assist with preparation of cost estimates and proposals.

 

Salary Range:  $40,000 – $50,000

Position Title:  Associate Wildlife Biologist/Biologist

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, biology or related field and 5-10 years of relevant environmental consulting experience required. Experience with documenting biological resources and communities of the Central Valley and Sierra Nevada foothills required. Candidate must also have experience conducting focused special-status plant and/or wildlife surveys and proficiency utilizing GPS technology in the field. Familiarity with regulatory permit processes and general permit requirements is also required. Experience preparing wetland delineations is a plus. Candidate must also have project management experience including the preparation of scopes and budgets, budget management, and client coordination. Candidate must have excellent communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office software programs, and must work well in a team environment. ISA-certified arborist, and special-status species permits preferred. Candidate must be comfortable working in all types of weather and be able to navigate all types of terrain. Majority of field work is local, so overnight travel is rare.
