Position Title:  Botanist/Biologist

We are seeking a Botanist/Biologist for a full-time position in our Rocklin, CA office.


Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, or related field and 5+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience required. The ability to conduct general biological assessments in the central valley and foothills, wetland delineations, special-status plant and wildlife surveys, proficiency with GPS technology, and knowledge of regulatory permit processes and requirements is required. Qualified candidate must be able to demonstrate efficient and accurate use of dichotomous keys to identify plant taxa, including grasses, sedges, and rushes. Candidate must have excellent communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office software programs, and must work well in a team environment. Extensive local botanical experience, ISA-Certified arborist, and special-status species permits preferred. Candidate must be comfortable working in all types of weather and be able to navigate all types of terrain. Majority of field work is local, so overnight travel is rare.


Responsibilities: Conduct field assessments of biological resources and wetlands; assess impacts to these resources; prepare technical reports and environmental review documents; conduct focused surveys for threatened, endangered, sensitive, and/or rare flora and fauna; implement biological construction monitoring requirements; work with project team to secure permits and develop and implement mitigation and monitoring plans; manage projects; prepare cost estimates and proposals; and mentor junior staff.


Position Title:  Senior GIS Specialist

We are seeking a Senior GIS Specialist for a full-time position in our Rocklin, CA office. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of advanced experience, problem-solving, and possess an interest and capability in business development to further expand our GIS services.


Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science or a related field and a minimum of five years of experience. Proficiency in ArcMap 10.x is required, as well as experience in AutoCAD and the integration of CAD data into GIS. Working knowledge of GPS data collection and processing methods and experience operating Trimble GPS units is preferred. Scripting and database development is strongly preferred. Previous project lead and marketing experience preferred. Candidate must have excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills; must be able to work independently as well as in a team; manage deadlines on multiple projects; and possess cartographic expertise.


Responsibilities: The Senior GIS Specialist will lead the GIS Division in preparation of presentation-quality maps and other graphics. Additional responsibilities include providing direction and mentoring for GIS staff; development/refinement of map production and analysis procedures; management of workload; quality control; and the collection, processing and analysis of GIS data. New business development including responding to RFP requests and expanding the customer base for advanced geospatial services is also a significant aspect of this position.


Position Title:  CEQA Project Manager/Environmental Planner

We are currently seeking a full-time Project Manager/Environmental Planner at our Rocklin office for a leadership role in preparing Mitigated Negative Declarations (MNDs). Position requires experience in environmental planning and CEQA, including a record of preparing and managing MNDs in a consulting environment.


Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in city, regional or urban planning; environmental planning; environmental policy and management; or a related field, and a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in the application of the California Environmental Quality Act. Must have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills; desire for a collaborative work environment; strong leadership skills; great client management abilities; and a willingness to learn and have fun. An understanding of development and knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and GIS is also desirable. The ability to function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential.


Responsibilities: Managing multidisciplinary projects and project teams; providing environmental and planning solutions to complex environmental issues; report and proposal preparation; client liaison; public presentations; writing technically and legally defensible reports and environmental documents.


Position Title:  Environmental Planner

We are currently seeking a full-time Environmental Planner at our Rocklin office.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, engineering, or a related field required and three to five years of related experience. Previous technical writing experience and excellent research and time-management skills also required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with a broad range of environmental principals, regulations, policies procedures, laws, and techniques sufficient to ensure that regulatory work is in compliance with applicable legal standards and other requirements and that such work is implemented in an environmentally sustainable manner. Must be able to identify, interpret, and evaluate a variety of regulatory factors and related natural, cultural, and social conditions and to prepare or evaluate the adequacy of environmental documentation. Candidate will be skilled at developing innovative solutions and working effectively with clients and regulators.
Responsibilities: Job duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of CEQA (i.e. CEs, IS/MNDs, and EIRs) environmental documents; coordination with Foothill staff and sub-consultants regarding the preparation of related technical studies; regulatory permitting for development and infrastructure projects involving coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Water Quality Control Board, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Additional responsibilities may include gathering and analyzing geographic data to produce maps in support of biological, regulatory and planning reports, proposals, and marketing materials.
