Position Title:  Senior Level Landscape Architect

Foothill Associates is accepting applications for a talented senior-level individual with a degree in landscape architecture and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the profession. Job duties include planning and designing landscape spaces in urban, rural, and suburban settings; developing open space, mitigation, restoration, resource management, and recreation plans and documents; and performing public outreach and engagement. The work includes preparation, review, and management of conceptual plans, project graphics, construction documents (including details, cost estimates, and specifications), master plans, and public presentations. Work includes the active marketing and procurement of new projects aligned with the full range of services offered by the firm. The candidate will perform project management tasks, construction review, and develop and manage schedules and budgets. The successful candidate is self-directed, creative, personable, and detail oriented; possesses excellent communication, organization, graphic production, and writing skills; enjoys working collaboratively; and meets deadlines.

 

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, a landscape architecture license, 10 or more years of landscape architecture experience, MS Office, and current AutoCAD experience are required. QSD/QSP certification is a plus. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of California native and drought tolerant plants, irrigation design, and public space design requirements. The candidate must be proficient in preparing proposals, comfortable in leading competitive marketing efforts and interviews with local agencies, and be familiar with the Sacramento area market. Experience in mitigation planning, ecological restoration, and/or park and recreation master planning are a plus. Knowledge of computer and hand rendering, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling tools, and natural sciences are also desirable.

Position Title: GIS Specialist

Foothill Associates is accepting applications for a motivated and driven GIS Specialist with 1 to 8 years of GIS experience. Job duties include converting and analyzing geographic data to produce maps and figures using ESRI’s ArcGIS in support of biological, regulatory, and environmental planning reports, documents, and marketing materials. The work includes preparing GPS units for use in the field collecting data; processing and integrating GPS data, imagery, and AutoCAD-based information; maintaining and updating GIS databases; and producing additional non-cartographic graphics as needed. The work includes performing quality assessment/quality control (QA/QC) of maps and figures, assembling geo-referenced and non-geo-referenced data, and working with data in a variety of projections. Researching data options and data availability, and communicating with design and engineering firms to obtain and clarify data will be part of the work. The successful candidate is self-directed, personable, and detail oriented; possesses excellent communication, organization, problem solving, and graphic mapping skills; enjoys working collaboratively; and meets deadlines.

 

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in geography, cartography, landscape architecture, natural resources, or closely related field; proficiency in preparing, operating, and collecting data from GPS units; proficiency operating ArcGIS software in creating and maintaining GIS data, developing maps, and performing analysis; and proficiency in MS Office are required. Field work, AutoCAD, and/or GIS programming experience are desirable.

Position Title: Regulatory Specialist

Foothill Associates is seeking a Regulatory Specialist to join our Rocklin office. The successful candidate will possess experience with Western flora and fauna with emphasis on northern California; will be familiar with environmental regulations including NEPA, CEQA, FESA and CESA, experience with federal and state protected species, and discretionary permitting through ACOE, CDFW, and USFWS. Position requires the ability to rapidly and accurately comprehend project components and potential issues relevant to regulatory compliance and potential effects to biological resources, to interact professionally with clients and technical staff, and to identify solutions to meet client needs. Successful candidates must be able to prepare technical sections of environmental documents, work in multi-resource groups, collaborate amongst internal team members and agency staff, and operate in an environment of tight schedules and limited budgets. Periodic travel and field work will be required.

 

Primary duties include: preparation of technical sections and reports and conducting resource impact analysis in support of State and Federal regulatory permit applications, development of conceptual and final mitigation plans, mitigation feasibility studies, and business development support. Minimum requirements include: bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in wildlife biology, fisheries, ecology, natural resource planning, or related field and GIS and GPS experience. Experience with the northern California ecosystems is a must.

 

Other desired qualifications include strong technical writing skills and critical thinking, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Position Title:  CEQA Project Manager/Environmental Planner

We are currently seeking a full-time Project Manager/Environmental Planner at our Rocklin office for a leadership role in preparing Mitigated Negative Declarations (MNDs). Position requires experience in environmental planning and CEQA, including a record of preparing and managing MNDs in a consulting environment.

 

Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in city, regional or urban planning; environmental planning; environmental policy and management; or a related field, and a minimum of 3-5 years related experience in the application of the California Environmental Quality Act. Must have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills; desire for a collaborative work environment; strong leadership skills; great client management abilities; and a willingness to learn and have fun. An understanding of development and knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and GIS is also desirable. The ability to function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential.

 

Responsibilities: Managing multidisciplinary projects and project teams; providing environmental and planning solutions to complex environmental issues; report and proposal preparation; client liaison; public presentations; writing technically and legally defensible reports and environmental documents.

 

Position Title:  Environmental Planner

We are currently seeking a full-time Environmental Planner at our Rocklin office.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, engineering, or a related field required and three to five years of related experience. Previous technical writing experience and excellent research and time-management skills also required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with a broad range of environmental principals, regulations, policies procedures, laws, and techniques sufficient to ensure that regulatory work is in compliance with applicable legal standards and other requirements and that such work is implemented in an environmentally sustainable manner. Must be able to identify, interpret, and evaluate a variety of regulatory factors and related natural, cultural, and social conditions and to prepare or evaluate the adequacy of environmental documentation. Candidate will be skilled at developing innovative solutions and working effectively with clients and regulators.

Responsibilities: Job duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of CEQA (i.e. CEs, IS/MNDs, and EIRs) environmental documents; coordination with Foothill staff and sub-consultants regarding the preparation of related technical studies; regulatory permitting for development and infrastructure projects involving coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Water Quality Control Board, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Additional responsibilities may include gathering and analyzing geographic data to produce maps in support of biological, regulatory and planning reports, proposals, and marketing materials.
